get me out

I have a chaos in my heart, I’ve got to let it out at least once a week otherwise I end up on the 5 o’clock news so, you can catch me on the street speaking in tongues for just about anyone. I’ll be screaming-crying-fainting for Fat Elvis and Frank Sinatra’s son, I don’t even care if it’s the real one.

I’m never myself not even when I’m by myself so I’m always myself, that’s the thing. I live ethereally, not because things don’t mean anything to me, I’m just really bad with technology, I can’t back anything up.

I could be a bum with you, live in a van, smoke dog tails we find off the sidewalk call that living off the land, yeah, I could live off of love and cigarette butts with someone like you for at least 3-6 months, max, then I gotta scat.

I have 15 sweet things to say, I think I’ll give you 3, then I’m gonna hold the rest close to my chest till you say something sweet to me. You know I can make meals stretch at least a week – why do you never say anything sweet to me?

I’m going down to Angie’s Diner, gonna have breakfast at the counter, zone out on the television. 5 dead and 8 injured in a school shooting. The waitress knows my name but she calls me sweetie. Warms me up when I’m a few sips in, she warms me up to the brim when I’m only a few sips in.

Well bless her heart. Hallelujah and all that jazz. Cuz these days when I look in the mirror, all I see is a half a glass of water, and a bag of chips. Yeah, lately I really do be feeling like a B-rate, cupcake, weekday, raté, underpaid, half-baked, parttime, backup, cameo, carnival star. I’m picking up night shifts at Dave’s Lanes cuz I’m saving up for a husband, a wife, a dog, a yard, and a car.
