Mythica
by Bianca Ambrosino
Art: “Field Glasses”
By Devon Balwit
She made an imaginary friend of
herself.
Pulled a candy thread from the air
& hoisted it up
as a sail she dangled from,
spinning —
spider diaspora on dandelion seed wings
Invisible
electromagnetic currents
carried her flying
aloft across the oceans.
Traveling with the phosphorus
sands of the Sahara to replenish the Amazon.
Landing with the rain & growing into forest.
Mythica made an imagination into a tree.
And countless lives are living in it —
on top of a little girl, curled up in the rootball.
& her little wrist
lifted
by tendril hooks
through her 10 karat
Italian gold bracelet
as the mycelium finally reaches her lonely,
chewed-up fingertips,
a whole rainforest of friendship flourishes.
As she lives in dreams & head-bound images
of needing, and being needed.
Bianca Ambrosino is a somewhat reclusive poet from Richmond, Virginia. Her sensory-based, Autistic perspective illuminates universal themes with startling connections and vivid synesthesia.
