Siren, saint–
your world,
as I see it in you,
a garden of mustard seeds,
the home we made
within a
grove
of trees.

Shore, a
womb for the saints
and their creeds.

Your eyes,
salt-stung,
squinting, an
iron chastity.

But, also
sea glass, and
land’s
iconoclast.

Merciless maiden,
I saw your soul’s
oyster
open wide
and the
sea drank
its pain and
pearls.

And I slept
like the
tides,
with shifting
visions
and dreams
that did
not belong
to me.
